All dirt all day on Saturday at Aqueduct

By NY Hot List Staff | November 10, 2022

Mother Nature has decided to interfere with Saturday’s card at Aqueduct with the threat of heavy rain prompting the cancellation of the featured Artie Schiller Stakes on turf. Instead, the Artie Schiller is tentatively moving to Sunday, weather permitting. As a result, the Saturday lineup at the Big A consists of nine dirt races, with the most interesting one taking place in the third race, a $95,000 allowance race for sprinters at six furlongs.

Here’s the Hot List picks for the third race:

Aqueduct, Saturday, race 3 [OC62K/N2X]:

6) Stage Left (B) got stuck on the rail at BAQ/Aqueduct last time at a time when the inside was dead. He still got to the lead but was passed by a few closers on the outside. (5) Senbei (B) dropped down from a series of stakes races including a win in the Gold Fever at Belmont in May. In that recent allowance he got pelted with heavy kickback and was climbing as he tried to avoid the dirt in the face. To start his career, he had four victories against NY-breds with three of those in stakes. (4) Amundson was claimed for $40,000 from a race that he won with a front-end effort. He is the winner of 3 out of 5 starts at the Big A. (3) Nova Rags comes back from a July layoff for Bill Mott. We remember him from the 2021 Kentucky Derby trail where he won the Pasco at Tampa Bay and was second in the Sam F. Davis (G3) and the Peter Pan (G3) at Belmont.
