Allowance race tops Saturday’s Aqueduct card
By NY Hot List Staff | Friday, April 12, 2024
With the countdown to the Kentucky Derby underway, the preparation for the big spring and summer races has created a bit of a gap at Aqueduct Racetrack as Saturday’s card lacks a stakes among the nine races. The best race of the day promises to be the fourth race, an allowance event for New York State-breds that drew a field of six. Worth $72,000, the mile race is topped by Safalow’s Mission and Horse Be With You who will vie for favoritism.
New York-bred allowance at Aqueduct, Saturday, Race 4, 2:56 pm EDT.
(1) Horse Be With You has three straight second-place finishes at this allowance level and each time set the pace. He will cut back to the one-turn mile distance. (2) Safalow’s Mission is a veteran of this level state-bred races with six top three finishes for Linda Rice. Although a win may not be the expected result another trifecta finish is likely as red hot jockey Jose Lezcano stays on board. (6) Flips’ Dream was a more than three-length winner of the NY-bred maiden special weight three weeks ago with a stalking trip. (4) Friday I’m in Love was a front-end winner of a maiden claimer last month.
