The Grade 2 Ruffian is featured on Saturday at Aqueduct

The Grade 2, $200,000 Ruffian is the featured race on an 11-race card on Saturday at Aqueduct. The field of seven older dirt females, which will race the one-turn mile, includes five stakes winners. Randomized, who was second in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) and the winner of the Alabama (G1), will make her first start of 2024.

Randomized is trained by Chad Brown who will try and win the Ruffian for the third time with victories in 2022 with Search Results and Pacific Wind in 2018. Brown also sends out Shidabhuti who is a recent Grade 3 winner at the Big A.

Todd Pletcher, who also has a pair of victories in the Ruffian, has Green Up in the field following her first start of the year in the Beholder Mile (G1) at Santa Anita in March.

The $200,000 Ruffian (G2) at Aqueduct, Saturday, Race 10, 5:39 pm EDT.

(5) Ain’t Broke (C) was bet down from 9-2 to 2-1, got taken up early, got to the lead, but then yielded to get second. She has seven top three finishes in her last seven starts including the Distaff (G3) last month and has wins in 4 out of her last 6 races.  (1) Randomized makes her first start of the year since running second in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff behind the champion older dirt female. She won three races in a row for Chad Brown heading into the BC Distaff with those victories coming in the Alabama (G1), Beldame (G2) and the Wilton at Saratoga. (2) Green Up travelled to Santa Anita to make her 2024 debut and finished third in the Beholder Mile (G1) behind a pair of top runners including Adare Manor. She was a stakes winner in November at Aqueduct. (6) Shidabhuti returned from a nine-month layoff to win the Distaff (G3) at Aqueduct. Three of her four victories happened at the Big A for Chad Brown.
