SPORTS HAVEN CLOSES ITS DOORS AFTER 40 YEARS; NEW EAST HAVEN LOCATION ON THE WAY

New Haven, CT — A historic chapter in Connecticut’s racing and wagering community comes to a close today as Sports Haven officially shuts its doors after 40 years of operation. The venue, long known as a gathering place for horse racing fans and sports enthusiasts, will be permanently closed at the end of the day.

Management expressed deep appreciation to the thousands of loyal patrons who have passed through Sports Haven over the decades.

“After 40 years, we want to thank everybody for spending their time with us,” the statement read. “Your support, memories, and energy made Sports Haven what it was.”

While the closure marks the end of an era, a new beginning is already on the horizon. A brand-new, modernized Winners location is currently under development in East Haven (37 Frontage Road,
East Haven, CT
) and is expected to open soon, offering upgraded technology, improved accessibility, and a refreshed customer experience.

In the meantime, customers can continue placing wagers or cashing tickets at Winners Milford (89 Roses Mill Rd, Milford, CT) or any other Winners venue across the state, ensuring no interruption in service during the transition.

For longtime fans, today is both a bittersweet farewell and an exciting step toward the future of wagering in Connecticut.
