Female sprinters square off in the Correction

Female sprinters square off in the Correction
By the New York Hot List // Friday, March 12, 2021

Speed will be the order of the day Saturday when distaff sprinters will top the card at Aqueduct Racetrack in the $100,000 Correction Stakes. The six-furlong stakes features a field of seven fillies and mares, including one in Amuse, who will be shipping in from the West Coast after making her last four starts in California stakes.

Here’s the Hot List picks:

Aqueduct, Saturday, Race 9.

(3) Amuse will make her first start away from the west coast for trainer Richard Mandella. The connections are hoping to get their 6-year-old mare her first stakes victory with her next stop being the breeding shed in Kentucky. This field is loaded with horses that prefer to race on the lead which should set the table for the late running style of Amuse. Last year, she was graded stakes placed at Del Mar and Santa Anita, which gives her a class edge in here. (6) Awesome Debate is the front-end winner of three out of her last four starts for trainer Charlie Baker. The last two came in a top-level NY-bred allowance followed by an open company allowance score. (2) Sadie Lady has been off since December when she won a second-level allowance against open company going gate to wire. (4) Call On Mischief had several races in open stakes races in her past performances and was recently claimed out of two high-priced optional claiming allowances. She is now in the barn of Kelly Breen who has strong stats with new runners and at 15-1 odds on the morning line she is worth using in the exotics.
