My Boy Tate tops Hollie Hughes at Aqueduct

By NY Hot List Staff | Thursday, February 17, 2022

New York State-breds headline the Saturday card at Aqueduct with a very familiar name topping the entrants in the Hollie Hughes Stakes. At the age of 8, My Boy Tate is still going strong and the multiple stakes winner looks like the horse to beat in the six furlong sprint that attracted a field of six. Owned by Little Red Feather Racing and trainer Michelle Nevin, he will try and win his 12th career start and the Hollie Hughes for the third time.

“For our partnership, he’s just been the king for the past several years. He’s really just a neat horse,” said Billy Koch, the Little Red Feather Racing manager. “He’s not the biggest horse in the world and not the fastest in the world, but he has a giant heart and he’s really tough as he proved last time before he got disqualified when he came in between horses.”

The $100,000 Hollie Hughes, Aqueduct, Saturday, Race 8.

(4) My Boy Tate loves Aqueduct where the 8-year-old has a record of 15: 7-3-1. He crossed the finish line in front in the recent Say Florida Sandy but was taken down for bumping in the stretch. He finished first or second in 8 out of his last 9 starts with most of them in NY-bred stakes. He runs from off the pace and should get a good set-up in this field of six. (2) Wudda U Think Now won an allowance against open company by more than 10 lengths while racing on the lead. His last three starts were against open competition. (3) Jemography has been off since December and does his best racing when he is fresh. His last four starts were in state-bred stakes. (1) Kaz’s Beach will cut back in distance and should get the right pace scenario for his late running style.
