The Biogio’s Rose drew eight fillies and mares and will be run on Sunday at Aqueduct

By NY Hot List staff | Friday, March 22, 2024

The $100,000, 1-mile Biogio’s Rose at Aqueduct, which was originally scheduled for Saturday but will be run on Sunday, drew a field of eight New York-bred fillies and mares. Security Code will try and win her second stakes race in a row and third overall for trainer Phil Serpe. The daughter of Frosted will stretch out to the mile distance for the second time in her career.

“I’m a bit unsure about the mile,” Serpe said. “I think she’ll run a good race but the way the stakes are coming up for older New York-bred fillies, the next sprint race isn’t until the end of June [Dancin Renee]. We’ll give it a try. I want to try and support the New York program, so we’ll give it a shot and see what happens.”

The $100,000 Biogio’s Rose at Aqueduct, Sunday, Race 7, 4:31 pm EDT.

(1) Security Code moved from a win in a first-level allowance against open company to a victory in the state-bred Broadway stakes last month. She is an ultra-consistent type with top three finishes in 11 out of her last 12 starts which span a period of 13 months. (7) Venti Valentine is another one of those veteran NY-breds that rarely runs a bad race. Last time she was only a neck behind the top choice in the Broadway. The Jorge Abreu trainee will move back to the mile distance at which she has a great record of 7: 4-1-2 with earnings of $455,000. (6) Bon Adieu won 4 out of last 6 starts and hit the board in her last seven races. Her last five were going a mile while racing on the lead. In her two most recent starts she moved through the NY-bred allowance conditions. (5) Lady Mine was claimed for $30,000 in April and since then has four wins in six starts including a starter allowance against open company and both state-bred allowance levels. She does her best running with late rallies.
