Turfers square off in Seek Again at Belmont on Saturday

By the New York Hot List Staff // Friday, May 21, 2021

There’s two weeks to go until the Belmont Stakes closes out the 2021 Triple Crown at Belmont Park. As a warm-up for New York racing’s biggest day of the year, Saturday’s featured race at Beautiful Belmont brings together a field of 10 (with two main track only entrants) in the $100,000 Seek Again Stakes, a one-mile test on the turf for 4-year-olds and up. As you might expect, Chad Brown has two of the ones to beat.

Here’s the Hot List picks:

Belmont Park, Saturday, Race 9, $100,000 Seek Again, 1 mile TURF.

(7) Decorated Invader returned from a winter layoff for Christophe Clement in a stakes race at Aqueduct in April. After having to pause in traffic with a furlong to run, he finished third. Last year during the spring and summer, he won three races in a row including the Pennine Ridge (G2) at Belmont and the Hall of Fame (G2) at Saratoga. The 4-year-old won three of his six starts at the mile distance. (6) Delaware is one of the Chad Brown runners in the field. At odds of 10-1 last time in his second of the year, he defeated today’s top choice. This son of Frankel had a perfect trip in that race and is listed at odds of 4-1. Last time was certainly when you wanted to make Delaware your top pick. (10) Flavien is the other Brown runner and was made the 2-1 morning line favorite. The now 6-year-old faced top competition in Grade 1 and 2 races in his last three starts. His prior victory came in the Tourist Mile at Kentucky Downs back in September. (5) Get Smokin may be the main speed in this field with a chance to win this race on the lead at generous odds. He gets some needed class relief in this field.
