Two-year-old fillies sprint in the Stewart Manor at Aqueduct

A field of eight 2-year-old fillies will meet on Saturday at Aqueduct for a six-furlong turf sprint in the $120,000 Stewart Manor. The field includes the unbeaten Showgirl Lynne B who was considered for the Breeders’ Cup along with Ridifined who has already run against fillies that are competing in the World Championships at Keeneland on Friday.

Stakes winner Showgirl Lynne B ships up to Aqueduct from Florida for trainer Robert Hess Jr. while Ridifined is from the New York barn of Tony Dutrow. Ridifined, who showed promise early in her training, was a neck shy of winning the Matron (G3) last month.

“I didn’t see anything standing in her way of becoming a stakes horse,” said Dutrow. “I thought that she would run very, very good the first time she ran. She always was a very smart, intelligent filly. In April, May and June, the smart ones usually outperform the talented ones. I’m hopeful that she could possibly win a graded stake someday.”

(8) Redifined was a debut winner for Tony Dutrow at Belmont Park in June. She moved to stakes competition at Saratoga and was third in the Bolton Landing behind Love Reigns who was entered in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. Then in the Matron (G3), the daughter of More Than Ready was a neck shy of victory, again finishing behind a Breeders’ Cup runner. (3) Showgirl Lynne B has a perfect three race record which includes a win on the synthetic track at Gulfstream Park in the Sharp Susan in August. Her recent start was an allowance victory at Kentucky Downs in her first grass race. She was considered for two Breeders’ Cup turf races for fillies on Friday but did not make the fields. (6) Dontlookbackatall won her first start at Saratoga for Christophe Clement and then ran fourth in the Matron. (2) Georgees Spirit broke her maiden in her second try for Jorge Abreu at the Spa and then was sixth in the Ms. Grillo (G3) last month behind two fillies that are running in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).
