Your Complete Guide to Watching the Soccer World Cup 2026 in Connecticut

The biggest soccer tournament on earth is here — and this time, it's on home soil. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the first to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and for Connecticut soccer fans, there has never been a better time to get in on the action. We're covering every key match, every kickoff time, and where to watch World Cup 2026 in Connecticut — all from the comfort of our MyWinners venues, including Fanatics Sportsbook at Bobby V's in Stamford.

Soccer has been building fast in this state. The US national team played Turkey right here in East Hartford last June — 34,000 fans turned up on a rainy Connecticut evening to watch the US go down 2-1 in a pre-Gold Cup warm-up. That kind of turnout tells you everything about where the sport is heading. Now the World Cup is here, and those same fans want a place to watch it properly. We've got you covered.

Connecticut Has More Skin in This Game Than You Might Think

This state has genuine emotional stakes in this tournament — and it starts with Patrick Agyemang.

Agyemang is from East Hartford, Connecticut. He grew up in the shadow of Rentschler Field as the son of Ghanaian immigrants, went to Eastern Connecticut State on a Division III scholarship — no Division I program would give him a shot — and spent years grinding his way up through the college ranks before Charlotte FC traded up in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft to pick him 12th overall. He became one of the best strikers in MLS, made his USMNT debut in January 2025, scored, and established himself as a genuine starter for Pochettino going into this World Cup. A Connecticut kid, from East Hartford, playing in a World Cup on home soil. It was the kind of story that writes itself.

Then in April, he tore his Achilles playing for Derby County and the dream ended, for now at least. He’s not in the squad. He won’t play at the tournament he’d worked his whole life toward — played on the same grass he used to dream about as a nine-year-old watching the USMNT at Rentschler Field. It is genuinely gutting, and Connecticut soccer owes him a proper welcome when he comes back.

The best thing we can do is watch the team he helped build. The US national team go into this tournament as genuine contenders, and CT fans should be in the venues making noise when it matters.

Center back Chris Richards was named to the 26-man squad despite torn ankle ligaments, racing to be fit before the June 12 opener. And Matt Freese — New York City FC goalkeeper and expected USMNT starter — plays his club soccer right in our backyard. There are plenty of reasons to care. Agyemang just adds one more layer.

Why Connecticut Turns Out for Soccer

Connecticut does not have just one soccer fanbase. It has a dozen. The Latin American community — Brazilian, Uruguayan, Paraguayan, Colombian, Mexican — follows international soccer with real passion. The Turkish community across the state has a strong following. There is a deep English fanbase carried by expats and a generation who grew up watching the Premier League. West African communities, Ghanaian fans, Moroccan supporters. This tournament has something for everyone who lives here.

That range is why our venues fill up for international games in a way that is different from any other sport. People here actually care. When Brazil play, Brazilian fans care. When England play, it is personal. When the US play Turkey on June 25 — the same Turkey side that beat the USMNT 2-1 at Rentschler Field last year — there will be CT fans who remember exactly where they were for that game.

The Matches to Watch at MyWinners Venues

Here's what we're watching. We've picked the games that are going to generate the biggest crowds at our venues — based on who's playing, what time they kick off, and how much the result matters. All times are Eastern.

USA v Paraguay — Friday, June 12, 9pm

The opener. Pochettino's side begin their Group D campaign against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, and every USMNT fan in Connecticut will be watching. The US go in as clear favorites — Paraguay ranked 39th in the world going into this tournament — but group stage openers have a habit of going sideways. USA fans will be bouncing with nerves before kickoff. Expect a big atmosphere at BV's Stamford.

Brazil v Morocco — Saturday, June 13, 6pm

Brazil. The most followed national team on the planet, with one of the biggest fanbases in Connecticut. Their opening game against Morocco is one of the marquee draws of the group stage — Morocco arrive as Africa's best with a core of experienced European-based players. This is prime Saturday viewing. Get there early.

England v Croatia — Wednesday, June 17, 4pm

England open their campaign against Croatia in Group L. These two sides have met twice in major tournament knockout rounds — England lost on penalties at Euro 2018, then beat Croatia in the 2020 Euros group stage. This time it's back to basics in the opening round. England's following in Connecticut is serious, and with a 4pm ET kickoff this is the kind of game you can catch straight after work. Croatia are no pushovers — Luka Modric's final tournament chapter continues — but England should have enough.

USA v Australia — Friday, June 19, 3pm

USMNT's second group game, against Australia in Seattle. The Socceroos are well organized under Tony Popovic and ranked 26th in the world — arguably the toughest opponent the US face in Group D. The US beat Australia 2-1 in a friendly in October 2025, but tournament football is different. This is a match where the USMNT could lock up group stage progression — or face nervous calculation going into the final game. Friday afternoon viewing, perfect for venue crowds.

USA v Turkey — Thursday, June 25, 10pm

And here's the one that feels personal for Connecticut. Turkey beat the USA 2-1 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford last June — Arda Guler and Kerem Akturkoglu scored in a three-minute spell to flip a one-goal US lead. Those same players could be lining up again on June 25 for the real thing. Turkey qualified via the UEFA playoff — they beat Kosovo 1-0 in the final — and Arda Guler at 20 years old is one of the most dangerous players in this tournament. Late kickoff adds to the drama. This is the one.

Uruguay v Spain — Friday, June 26, 8pm

The Uruguay fanbase in Connecticut is vocal and passionate — and Spain are one of the genuine tournament favorites. Uruguay arrive with a point to prove in a World Cup they haven't threatened to win since their last final in 1950. Spain, by contrast, come in as European champions with a squad built around pace, technique, and pressing. This is a Group H clash that could define both teams' routes through the tournament. Friday night at 8pm is a natural venue crowd — excellent viewing.

No — and it is one of the most heartbreaking stories of this tournament. Agyemang, who grew up in East Hartford and attended Eastern Connecticut State, tore his Achilles in April while playing for Derby County. He was a genuine USMNT starter and one of the best strikers in the squad. He will not be at the tournament. Connecticut soccer fans are feeling that one.

Yes — the US played Turkey at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford in June 2025, losing 2-1 in front of over 34,000 fans. Those two sides meet again at the World Cup on June 25. It is a rematch with real stakes — and a real Connecticut connection. Patrick Agyemang started that game at Rentschler Field.
