Secretariat is considered the greatest racehorse of all time because he won the 1973 Triple Crown in record time in every leg, including a 31 length victory in the Belmont Stakes that remains the largest margin in Triple Crown history. His Belmont time of 2:24 and his Kentucky Derby time of 1:59 2/5 both still stand as track records more than fifty years later.
